A family-focused classifieds platform for parents to buy and sell second-hand baby and childrens’ products – simple, modern and playful.
Belly.de is a family-focused classifieds marketplace built entirely around the needs of young families. The platform offers categories like pregnancy, baby items, childrens’ clothing and more – combined with a playful design and clear usability.
The aim of this project was to design a clean and user-friendly online marketplace tailored to families with young children as a better alternative to cluttered and outdated platforms like Kleinanzeigen or Vinted. The goal was to provide a fresh and intuitive user experience, with a clear category structure, teasers and inviting visuals that make parents feel welcome. The design needed to be not only functional but emotionally engaging inviting parents to explore, register and sell.
I was involved in both UX/UI design and frontend implementation, working as the main designer and co-developer of the site. My responsibilities included:
The homepage structure provided direct access to the most important areas: category teasers, new listings, a magazine preview, newsletter signup and social media updates. A hero slider guided users to the main categories through colour-coded visuals: pink for girls’ clothing, blue for boys, yellow for toys. Icons supported the structure and made browsing intuitive. A short personal message from the founder added a human touch, helping to build trust and authenticity. This project shows how thoughtful UX and UI design can turn a basic classifieds platform into a modern, family-friendly experience. The client was very happy with the result and it became the largest project I worked on in 2024.
Here you can see some of the selected screens showcasing the final interface and structure.
The current live version of the site was modified after my departure and differs significantly from the original design and implementation I contributed to. The screenshots shown here represent my version as it was originally launched.
